1 in 8 Billion Not Loading: Troubleshooting
This page explains one part of the game. It is an independent copy, not the official site. The life itself starts on this language’s homepage.
Four checks that do not delete anything
Confirm the address is this site, the browser is current, the device is online, and a blocker is not stopping the page’s scripts. Stop there before any talk of clearing data.
| Field | How to read it | On this copy |
|---|---|---|
| White or unfinished page | Safe to try | Reload once. Check that the device is online and that a content blocker is not stopping the page’s own scripts. Leave stored lives alone. |
| {beBorn} does nothing | Careful | Wait until the page finishes. If a decision or another layer is open, close that first. Then press {beBorn}. |
| {past} or {future} never starts | Careful | This copy has no era.js, so those two settings stop on the game’s own loading message. Choose {today}. That does not delete a save. |
| A control is missing on a phone | Safe to try | At 560 pixels and below, some controls sit inside ⋯. Rotate the phone or reset the page zoom before assuming the control is gone. |
Do not clear this site’s data as a first step. That can delete the life you are trying to keep.
A white page
The game needs its own script, style and language file. A failed load can leave the page empty. Reload once. If it still fails, try another browser on the same device. Do not clear site data yet.
When Be born will not press
The button exists only after the page has loaded. A decision, a menu or a browser prompt can sit on top of it. Close that layer. The button does not draw a country by itself; it starts the draw.
Only past or future fails
era.js is not in this build. The past, The future, and Any world when it lands on those two, stop on the game’s loading message. Today can start. Switching to Today does not erase a life.
A phone layout
Below 560 pixels the ⋯ control opens the extra menu. Pinch-zoom can push a button off screen. Reset zoom before deciding the control is gone.
Protect the lives first
If past lives are visible, leave them. Clearing cookies or site data can remove one8b.save.v3, one8b.lives.v1 and one8b.past.v1. This page has no button that does that.
What is useful to report
The language URL, the time, the browser, and what you pressed. A short error line from the console helps. Do not paste the saved life, a name, or other personal text.
When it works again
Return to this language’s homepage and press Be born. If the problem was a missing life rather than a blank page, use the lost-progress page.
Starting
No account is required.
Do I need an account?
No. The life is in this browser.
Will a private window keep the life?
Often no. A private window can discard the store when it closes.
Should I clear the cache first?
No. That is a last resort and it can delete the lives you want.
